History

Darrel Smith, founder of Courier Graphics, started the company in 1976 in Phoenix with a single sheetfed press. Since then, Courier Graphics has grown a business based on service to the customer.

Courier Graphics has thrived over the last 40 years by following our founder’s values: do what you say you’re going to do, do it in a timely manner and operate with the necessary equipment and facilities to produce these results. It was a successful business plan in 1976 and it is still a successful plan today.

Darrel’s strong background in web printing helped him to make Courier Graphics the first commercial printing plant in Arizona with a heatset web and multiple sheetfed presses. This is still the foundation of Courier Graphics today: producing fine web and sheetfed lithography. Today Courier Graphics is owned and operated by Darrel’s daughter Pam Carritt, who worked for twenty years with Darrel before taking the reins of the company. Courier has grown to be one of the largest commercial printers in Arizona and operates out of two adjacent 50,000 square foot facilities.
